Earl and Laura Goodrich, Missionaries to South Africa
Tucked away in the verdant, lush valleys of Durban, South Africa lies the village of Mount Moriah, a low cost housing project with all the problems normally associated with extreme poverty. Considered a dangerous area that local churches would only visit in mass hit and run evangelism events, the area was not truly evangelized.
In 2008, Pastor Mark Moonsamy (a church planter and university librarian) saw a community without any churches and decided to make a difference. Now 6 years old, the thriving church has moved into their first building and is working hard to spread the gospel. We had the privilege of working with Pastor Mark to start an Entokozweni Children’s Resource Center to minister to the orphaned and vulnerable children of this community. Nine months later we are thrilled with the impact this church is making.
Being able to partner with churches and people like Pastor Mark is why we love being missionaries to South Africa.
